Angel of North

Near the A1 in Gateshead in the North East of England, is Britain's largest and most impressive sculpture. Commissioned by Gateshead Council and created by internationally renowned sculptor Antony Gormley, the sculpture rises 20 metres (65 feet) over the hilltop landscape. It is situated on the site of the pit head baths of the former Team Colliery. It marks the southern entry to Tyneside and is on the edge of the Great North Forest.

Hadrians Wall

Westwards from the fabulous city of Newcastle Upon Tyne, you can follow Hadrian's Wall into the beauty of the Northumberland National Park. Stop along the way at Corbridge or Hexham for afternoon tea in true English style.

Northumberland

Northwards, the countryside meets the sea and is bejewelled with castles and accessible islands along the coast. The ancient market towns of Morpeth, Rothbury and Alnwick are all within 1 hour's driving distance from Whitley Bay.

Tynemouth

In the Victorian village of Tynemouth, you can browse amongst antiques, enjoy an afternoon tea or a traditional English Pub Lunch. Amaze your friends with your find from the curio fayre held every weked in the beautiful Victorian Station.

Royal Quays was one of the first outlet centres in the county originally opening in 1996.
